A TEXAS TOWN FIXES LIGHT POLLUTION WITH THEIR FOOTBALL FIELD LIGHTING

This is what the city of Wimberley, TX wanted for themselves when they decided to become a 100% dark sky community. The city did not want light pollution blocking the night sky or its local community. In order to be dark sky compliant, they had to make several changes including updating lights in the city to reduce glare into the night sky. While implementing this, there was a major issue: their high school football field lights.
PROBLEM
Every Texas town is proud of their high school football team and you can’t have Friday night football without the Friday night lights. However, the generic football field lights at Wimberley High School had a glaring issue (literally). The glare from the field lights weren’t just blinding the players on the field, they were polluting the night sky. This was a major problem for Wimberley’s dark sky plans.
SOLUTION
Wimberley High School reached out to Sportsbeams about the Field LED 900 – lights specifically designed for football and sports field use. These lights allow Wimberley High School to keep the lights on the field and out of players eyes. By reducing the glare, these lights allowed Wimberley to become 100% dark sky compliant.
WHY SPORTSBEAMS LED 900
